About the role
In this role, you will manage and oversee staff within the Risk-Based Review program by setting goals, establishing priorities, developing standards, and creating schedules to ensure program objectives are met. You will plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate program operations and services while developing policies, procedures, rules, and regulations that ensure correctional units remain compliant with agency standards, laws, and accreditation requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct surveys, unit visits, and inspections
- Oversee the preparation of performance reports as well as prepare reports that outline findings and recommendations
- Develop and evaluate budget requests, monitor expenditures, and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency
- Provide technical assistance, training, and interpretation of agency standards
- Serve as a liaison with departments, unit management, other agencies, and external organizations
- Supervise assigned staff and provide guidance to support effective performance and adherence to agency expectations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Knowledge of public administration and management principles
- Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures effectively
- Ability to communicate instructions and ideas clearly and concisely
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with staff, departments, officials, external agencies, and the public
- Skill in administrative problem-solving and reviewing technical data
Preferred qualifications
- Seven years of full-time experience in program administration or criminal justice administration
- Four years of experience supervising employees
- Understanding of TDCJ organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Experience conducting inspections, evaluations, and compliance reviews
- Strong background in preparing and evaluating budget requests and monitoring expenditures
- Skill at developing program guidelines, identifying needed improvements, and implementing corrective actions
- Experience providing training, technical assistance, and interpreting complex standards
