TDCJ - Laundry Manager I, II - Region I Units

About the Role

This is a career ladder position. Apply once annually for multiple related positions through this posting. Responsibilities

• Supervise inmates in laundry, necessity, and supply operations.
• Ensure laundry and necessity processing areas and equipment are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Coordinate with security staff for the timely distribution of necessity items to inmates on a one-for-one basis.
• Prepare detailed reports regarding laundry and necessity operations.

Laundry Manager I

Performs moderately complex laundry services supervisory work under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED).
• One year full-time wage-earning experience in the operation of a commercial or institutional laundry or in supply, including purchasing or inventory stock control.

Preferred Experience

• One to seventy-two months full-time wage-earning experience as a Correctional Officer, Supervisor of Correctional Officers, Correctional Food Service Manager, Correctional Laundry Manager, Law Enforcement, or Jailer.
• Experience in the supervision of inmates is preferred.
• Able to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.

Laundry Manager II

Performs highly complex laundry services supervisory work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED).
• Two years full-time wage-earning experience in the supervision of inmates.

Preferred Experience

• Seventy-three months or more full-time wage-earning experience as a Correctional Officer, Supervisor of Correctional Officers, Correctional Food Service Manager, Correctional Laundry Manager, Law Enforcement, or Jailer.
• Experience in supply or the operation of a commercial or institutional laundry is preferred.
• Able to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.

• Pre-Service Training Academy required.
• Hazardous Duty/Longevity Position.
• Hazardous Duty Units in Region I: Boyd Unit, Byrd Unit, Diboll Unit, Duncan Geriatric Facility, Ellis Unit, Estelle Unit, Ferguson Unit, Goodman Unit, Goree Unit, Hamilton Unit, Holliday Unit, Huntsville Unit, Lewis Unit, Luther Unit, Pack Unit, Polunsky Unit, Wainwright Unit, Wynne Unit.
