About the Role
This is a career ladder position with two levels: Laundry Manager I and Laundry Manager II. Both positions involve supervising inmates in laundry, necessity, and supply operations, ensuring clean and sanitary conditions, coordinating with security staff for necessity item distribution, and preparing detailed operational reports.
Responsibilities
- Supervise inmates in laundry, necessity, and supply operations.
- Maintain laundry and necessity processing areas and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Coordinate with security staff for the timely distribution of necessity items to inmates on a one-for-one basis.
- Prepare detailed reports regarding laundry and necessity operations.
Requirements
Laundry Manager I
- Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED).
- One year of full-time wage-earning experience in the operation of a commercial or institutional laundry or in supply, including purchasing or inventory stock control.
Laundry Manager II
- Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED).
- Two years of full-time wage-earning experience in the supervision of inmates.
Qualifications
Laundry Manager I
- One to seventy-two months of full-time wage-earning experience as a Correctional Officer, Supervisor of Correctional Officers, Correctional Food Service Manager, Correctional Laundry Manager, Law Enforcement, or Jailer.
- Experience in the supervision of inmates is preferred.
- Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
Laundry Manager II
- Seventy-three months or more of full-time wage-earning experience as a Correctional Officer, Supervisor of Correctional Officers, Correctional Food Service Manager, Correctional Laundry Manager, Law Enforcement, or Jailer.
- Experience in supply or the operation of a commercial or institutional laundry is preferred.
- Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
Additional Information
- Pre-Service Training Academy is required.
- This is a hazardous duty/longevity position.
- Hazardous Duty Units in Region IV include: Bartlett Unit, Briscoe Unit, Connally Unit, Cotulla Unit, Dominguez Unit, Fort Stockton Unit, Garza East Unit, Garza West Unit, Glossbrenner Unit, Kyle Unit, Lopez Unit, Lynaugh Unit, McConnell Unit, Ney Unit, San Saba Unit, Sanchez Unit, Segovia Unit, Torres Unit, Travis Unit, Willacy Unit.
- Qualified applications are valid for one year and require yearly renewal if over a year old.
- Outside applicants will be required to submit to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.
