TCEQ - Program Supervisor V (TCEQ Employees Only)

About the role

Join TCEQ's Office of Waste and contribute to the agency’s mission of protecting Texas’s public health and natural resources by regulating the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites. This position is part of the Occupational Licensing and Registration Division.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff assignments, including processing registrations, reports, refund/credit memos, mailings, and public information requests.
  • Provide excellent customer service and technical assistance to staff, customers, and agency personnel.
  • Track and ensure compliance with program deadlines, goals, and reporting requirements (annual, quarterly, monthly).
  • Establish and maintain training procedures for team programs and develop in-depth knowledge for each.
  • Lead special projects and complete personnel management functions, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with counterparts from other agency programs (permitting, financial, enforcement, administrative, investigators, and IT) to resolve issues and improve efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain a Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program to ensure data integrity.
  • Provide weekly updates on program status, special projects, and outstanding issues to management.
  • Stay current with changes to team programs, databases, and applications.

Requirements

  • Experience with petroleum storage tank and aboveground storage tank safety registration programs.
  • Experience using the Permit and Registration Information System (PARIS) and Central Registry (CR) databases.
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure (e.g., communication systems, cybersecurity, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment, or water treatment facilities).

Qualifications

  • Experience in the administration of a program relevant to the assignment, or
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a relevant field.

A copy of your official college transcript or evaluation of foreign credentials may be required if needed to verify qualifications.

Schedule

Standard business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Individual and workgroup schedules are determined by the TCEQ Austin Office.
