Tax Senior Manager - Sales and Use Tax (SALT)

About the role

This position is considered hybrid which means team members are expected to be thoughtful and intentional in how they create opportunities for in-person collaboration. While the cadence of in-office presence is determined at the team level, our professionals are encouraged to be in the office/together in person on average 3 days a week.

This position will support our National Tax Team, which in turn supports the firm’s broader tax practice. The right candidate will have a growth mindset and look for ways to expand their knowledge within both the tax space associated with their specialized services and varying industries. They will also be eager to collaborate on thought leadership, webinars, and seminars while remaining results focused on assisting both internal and external clients in achieving their wide-ranging business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sales tax compliance and consulting services involving audit controversy, due diligence, tax projections, research for a diverse client base, and more.
  • Provide broad exposure to our Sales Tax Compliance Practice.
  • Enhance project and task management skills.
  • Receive personal and professional development support and mentoring from experienced CPAs in the accounting, auditing, and tax areas of the firm.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader CohnReznick team in delivering the highest quality service to our clients.
  • Interact directly with clients on a regular basis to better understand and serve their needs.
  • Participate in industry, alumni, and community networking events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Tax is a plus.
  • CPA, CMA, CMI, JD, or EA required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax roles, with emphasis on US sales and use tax.
  • Proficiency in sales tax compliance software, preferably Avalara for Accountants.
  • Solid experience in researching and addressing multi-state sales tax matters.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proven competence with MS Office, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of tax software, including CCH and RIA Checkpoint.
  • Solid organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Travel required – approximately 10%.

Pay

In Maryland, the salary range for a National Tax Senior Manager is $150,000 to $250,000.
