About the Role

We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Tax Senior Manager to join the State and Local Tax (SALT) team in our National Tax practice. This position is hybrid, with team members expected to be in the office approximately 3 days a week for in-person collaboration. The cadence of in-office presence is determined at the team level.

They will collaborate on thought leadership, webinars, and seminars while remaining results-focused on assisting both internal and external clients in achieving their business goals.

Responsibilities

As a member of the State & Local Tax team, you will report to and receive instruction from Directors and/or Partners of the Firm. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing sales tax compliance and consulting services, including audit controversy, due diligence, tax projections, and research for a diverse client base
  • Gaining broad exposure to the Sales Tax Compliance Practice
  • Enhancing project and task management skills
  • Receiving support and mentoring from experienced CPAs in accounting, auditing, and tax
  • Collaborating with the broader CohnReznick team to deliver high-quality service to clients
  • Interacting directly with clients to better understand and serve their needs
  • Participating in industry, alumni, and community networking events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s in Tax is a plus
  • CPA, CMA, CMI, JD, or EA certification is required
  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax roles, with emphasis on US sales and use tax
  • Proficiency in sales tax compliance software, preferably Avalara for Accountants
  • Solid experience in researching and addressing multi-state sales tax matters
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Proven competence with MS Office, including advanced Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of tax software, including CCH and RIA Checkpoint
  • Solid organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Approximately 10% travel required

Pay

In Maryland, the salary range for a National Tax Senior Manager is $150,000 to $250,000. Salary is one component of the CohnReznick total rewards package, which also includes a discretionary performance bonus and other benefits.
