Job Description and Duties
The Receiving and Data Storage Section (RDSS) seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Program Technician II (TPT II) to support high-volume document, payment, and workflow processing across multiple teams. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring workflows and identifying and troubleshooting procedural or system issues.
- Communicating concerns to support teams and reviewing work for accuracy.
- Assisting with updates to procedures and forms, and supporting complex account processing.
- Gathering operational data that contributes to planning and resource decisions.
Working Conditions

Special Requirements
- The position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
- The position requires compliance with the California Revenue and Taxation Code.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience monitoring high-volume workflows or production environments, preferably involving imaging or document-processing systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, research, and resolve system or procedural issues.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and operational guidelines accurately.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers in a clear, professional, and tactful manner.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience reviewing work for accuracy, consistency, or compliance with established procedures.
- Ability to gather, track, and evaluate operational data to support planning, reporting, or process improvements.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting technical issues related to scanning equipment, imaging systems, or workflow applications.
- Strong organizational skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, support partners, and leadership.
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, adaptable, and solutions-focused work style.
- Proficiency using a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Working knowledge of departmental systems such as Fresh service, Taxpayer Information System (TI), Business Entities Tax System (BETS), Image Processing and Cashiering System, Accounts Receivable Collection System (ARCS), Taxpayer Folder (TPF), and Case Management (CM).
