Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services - Real Estate Focus
About the role
The Tax Managing Director advises clients on tax implications, evaluates alternative actions, and acts as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. They also serve as a member of the leadership team, supervise associates, and participate in business development.
Responsibilities
- Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Manages engagements to meet engagement management metrics.
- Identifies and conducts necessary research to address complex issues.
- Applies technical expertise to income tax provisions, including international tax, valuation allowances, business combinations, and stock-based compensation.
- Develops and implements efficient methods to maximize client benefits, especially by reducing taxes or expenses.
- Develops and introduces new or improved ideas to improve client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel.
- Provides written and verbal performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Schedules and manages workload of associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Acts as a Career Advisor to associates, senior associates, and managers.
- Supervises associates, senior associates, and managers as the situation dictates.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a major in a related field.
- Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- At least ten (10) years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent of one of these designations) required.

California Range: $190,000 - $335,000
Colorado Range: $185,000 - $225,000
Illinois Range: $175,000 - $250,000
Maryland Range: $185,000 - $260,000
Massachusetts Range: $215,000 - $300,000
Minnesota Range: $170,000 - $250,000
New Jersey Range: $190,000 - $350,000
Ohio Range: $150,000 - $300,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $230,000 - $350,000
Washington Range: $196,400 - $249,400
Washington DC Range: $190,000 - $300,000
