Tax Director - Construction Industry
Tax Strategy and Planning
Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency and ensure compliance with tax regulations. Provide strategic tax planning advice to senior management, identifying opportunities for tax savings and mitigating risks. Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure the company's tax practices align with current legislation.
Tax Compliance and Reporting
Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns (corporate, VAT, income, sales tax, etc.). Ensure timely and accurate compliance with federal, state, and international tax reporting requirements. Work closely with external auditors and tax authorities to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
Risk Management
Assess and manage tax risks, including changes in tax laws, audits, or disputes. Lead tax audits, investigations, and reviews, and manage relationships with tax authorities. Mitigate risks by implementing internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure tax compliance.
Tax Research and Analysis
Lead tax research on complex tax issues, including the impact of domestic and international tax regulations. Analyze the tax implications of new business ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
Team Leadership and Development
Manage and develop a team of tax professionals, providing leadership, training, and mentoring. Foster a collaborative environment and ensure the team stays current with changes in tax laws and practices.
Cross-Department Collaboration
Work closely with the finance, legal, and accounting departments to integrate tax considerations into the company's financial strategies. Advise on tax implications of various business decisions, including mergers, acquisitions, capital projects, and international expansion.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or a Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
- Experience: Typically, 8+ years of experience in tax, including experience in a leadership role within a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
- Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent tax designation is highly preferred.

- Strong knowledge of corporate tax, tax compliance, and accounting principles.
