About the Role
Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking an experienced and skilled recruiter to support hiring for salaried professional positions. This role acts as a central point of contact for applicants and hiring managers throughout the full-cycle talent acquisition process. Responsibilities include reviewing applications, conducting interviews, extending formal job offers, working with outside agencies and vendors, attending hiring events and career fairs, and partnering with the business on tactical and strategic talent planning. The environment is fast-paced, requiring strong multitasking and collaboration skills to match candidate skills with critical positions while ensuring a positive candidate experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews to recruit prospective employees and refer job applicants to specific job openings.
- Evaluate employment factors such as job experience, education, training, skills, knowledge, abilities, physical and personal qualifications, and other relevant data.
- Prepare ratings on applicants, make recommendations on starting salaries, and provide applicants with company information.
- Administer tests, interpret results, check references, arrange transportation for selected applicants, and extend formal job offers.
- Collaborate with hiring managers and stakeholders to achieve recruitment goals and improve processes.
- Work with a sense of urgency and responsiveness to maintain strong connections with candidates and stakeholders.
- Attend hiring events and career fairs to promote NNS as an employer of choice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience; OR
- Master’s Degree and 4 years of relevant professional experience; OR one of the following equivalents:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associate’s Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant non-exempt experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience recruiting engineers and other technical professional positions.

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $86,000.00 to $107,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
