About the Role
Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) is seeking a recruiter to support hiring for trades positions. This position will recruit prospective employees into our workforce development pipeline programs and act as a liaison with local high schools and trade schools. You will serve as the central point of contact with education partners, connecting with students and others looking to develop experience in the skilled trades.
The environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to multi-task as you review applications, conduct interviews, extend formal job offers, work with outside agencies and vendors, attend hiring events, and support high school and trade school career fairs. We prioritize the candidate experience and seek a positive communicator to highlight why NNS is the employer of choice for the next generation of shipbuilders.

Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews to recruit prospective employees and refer job applicants to specific job openings.
- Evaluate employment factors such as job experience, education, training, skills, knowledge, abilities, physical and personal qualifications, and other relevant data.
- Prepare ratings on applicants, make recommendations on starting salaries, and provide applicants with company information.
- Administer tests and interpret results, check references, arrange transportation for selected applicants, and extend formal job offers.
- Work with outside agencies, vendors, and attend hiring events and career fairs.
Requirements
Must have one of the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
- NNS Apprentice School graduate or Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate (equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree).
- Associate’s Degree or other formal 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience.
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience.
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant exempt experience.
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience, or other relevant non-exempt experience.

Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $57,000.00 to $72,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
