Tactical Athlete Coach-Swim position supporting a government customer in Coronado, California.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and coaching to candidates in the Naval Special Warfare Orientation courses of instruction.
  • Maintain daily contact with junior sailors, adhering to high standards of conduct and understanding the candidate/coach relationship.
  • Perform physical testing in accordance with OPNAVINST 6110.1 Physical Readiness Program guidelines.
  • Meet minimum Physical Screening Test (PST) standards within 30 calendar days of hire at SWCC candidate standards and maintain fitness to pass these standards yearly.
  • Successfully complete the NSW High-Risk Instructor Training Course (HRITC) within 30 calendar days of hire and qualify as a High-Risk Safety and Training Instructor.
  • Qualify within BTC NSWO-specific CUIT and ELI requirements.
  • Adhere to all NSW policies, instructions, and evolution guidelines for training evolutions.
  • Perform administrative functions for the assigned NSWO phase, including handling Access Personal Identification Information and potentially Personal Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Track and record student performance, testing, and course metrics in the NSW Individual Training and Readiness Management (ITRMS) database.
  • Coordinate with NSWO leadership to identify trends and improve student or class performance.
  • Attend and complete the High-Risk Instructor Training Course provided by the government.
  • Qualify as an ATV operator and perform related duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related physical training field.
  • Four (4) years of recent (within the last 6 years) equivalent experience working as a coach or physical fitness leader in a relevant field and environment.
  • Ability to maneuver, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and contractors; visual acuity to review written documentation and understand speech at normal room levels.
  • CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid certification from the American Red Cross.
  • Current and valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Screened for professional, physical, and psychological suitability as a high-risk training instructor.
  • Pass random drug testing at least twice annually.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for providing directions.

Physical Requirements

  • Maintain a constant state of mental alertness.
  • Perform physical testing per OPNAVINST Physical Readiness Program guidelines and maintain sufficient fitness to pass yearly.
  • Ability to maneuver, see, hear, and verbally communicate; visual and auditory acuity for reviewing documentation and understanding speech.

Pay

$80,000–$90,000/year
