Swim Coach
Grade 2 of the Town’s Part-Time Pay Plan with an hourly range of $19.50–20.69 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
About the role
For over 50 years the Natick Swim Team has provided children ages 5–18 the opportunity to participate in the competitive sport of swimming, while fostering a sense of self-worth and confidence. The primary focus of the team is aiding swimmers in self-improvement, giving every swimmer the opportunity to succeed. Swimmers also learn sportsmanship through intra-team and inter-team competitions, beginning with fundamental skills and building to individual goals.
We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and reliable part-time Swim Coach. The ideal candidate will have youth, high school, and/or college sports performance training or coaching experience. This position ensures the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all participants while teaching personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water games, sports, and rescue through explanation, demonstration, and individual correction.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement proper skill instruction and motivation for a competitive racing team.
- Develop and execute appropriate practice schedules for individual age groups.
- Be punctual, prepared, and organized each day.
- Attend all team meetings.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
- Communicate regularly with participants and parents regarding meet and practice schedules.
- Plan and execute swim meets.
- Maintain a fun, safe, and controlled environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to interact with participants of all ages and abilities.
- Adult/Child and infant CPR certification, or ability to obtain prior to start.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent preferred.
