About the role

Columbus House, Inc. is seeking a Resident Support Specialist for its Recovery House. This position is part-time (16 hours/week), non-exempt, and essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular wellness rounds at both Harkness and Recovery House.
  • Maintain hourly logs.
  • Serve as supervisor for up to seventeen male clients, ensuring compliance with house rules.
  • Counsel clients to assist them with recovery service plans.
  • Avoid security breaches by overseeing intake, departures, and daily roster and programs.
  • Lead House meetings and provide transportation to appointments as needed.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and social service providers.
  • Enforce house rules and maintain incident logs.
  • Supervise resident drug screens and chores.
  • Attend weekly and monthly agency, program, and network meetings.
  • Complete all required reports and incident logs.
  • Enter data into computer as directed.
  • Remain on-site during emergency situations as designated by the CEO.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and direct consumers.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of residential services for the homeless population.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common desktop applications.
  • Knowledge of local housing and vocational/entitlement programs.
  • Culturally competent and able to work within a team.
  • Strong empathic skills and reliable punctuality.
  • Valid drivers' license with a good driving history.
  • Familiarity with mental health, substance abuse, and dual diagnosis issues.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention skills, confidentiality, boundaries, and universal precautions.
  • Ability to meet all documentation requirements.
  • Ability to foster a Harm Reduction philosophy within the work environment.
