Recovery Support Specialist Residential
About the role
ACTS is growing and seeks a compassionate, driven individual to join the Wraparound Housing Team. This position offers a competitive salary range of $17.00-$18.50/hr, benefits including medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, employer-paid basic life insurance, and a 403(b) retirement account with a 5% company match. The schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm, and the location is on-site at the Wraparound Housing Program in Tampa, Florida.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to agency designated model for treating persons with substance and/or co-occurring mental disorders.
- Promote client self-determination, personal responsibility, and empowerment inherent in self-directed recovery.
- Facilitate and teach clients role recovery elements such as engagement in the recovery process, readiness for work or meaningful life activities, choosing valued roles, and achieving these roles in the community.
- Conduct psycho-educational groups; assist clients in peer group support to facilitate problem-solving, communication skills development, and personal growth.
- Support clients in achieving recovery goals as reflected in their screening, assessment, treatment plan, or discharge summary.
- Provide services within areas of competency, including life experience, training, certification, and education in the service area.
- Seek direction from Program Director/Administrator when clients' needs fall outside area/s of competency and maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and recovery philosophy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma and three years of direct service experience in a substance abuse or mental health treatment or recovery setting (personal recovery experience may substitute for up to two years of the required experience).
- A Bachelor's degree in a health or human services field may substitute for two years of the experience.
- Valid Florida Driver License.
- Eligibility status determined by Level 2 background screening in accordance with Florida Statutes, Chapter 435 and/or Local Law.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to participate in crisis intervention and CPR/First Aid training and apply learned techniques, as needed.
