Systems Developer/Database Integrator - District Wide

Work year: Full time, 12 months

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Adept at working in a team environment and designing creative solutions for information management
  • Knowledge of SQL and data normalization
  • Some knowledge of Java
  • Specific knowledge of Microsoft Office and SQL Server; familiarity with X2 Aspen and Crystal Reports is desirable
  • Ability to troubleshoot in a computer networked environment
  • Desire and ability to learn, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist school district staff at all levels of customer support and collaborate with other members of the Technology Department
  • Ability to plan and organize workload, work independently, and provide excellent customer support through effective communication and team attitude
  • Ability to perform training sessions on technical issues as necessary
  • Creativity and expertise in IT disciplines with strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to users, resolving system-related issues in person, via telephone, or from a remote location using the helpdesk system
  • Develop existing or new functionality using vendor standards (e.g., Java and Aspen conventions)
  • Work as part of a team to provide support and training (both one-on-one and classroom) for all applications in use by the District, including:
    • X2 Aspen Student Information System
    • Follett Destiny Library System
    • Kentico for school websites
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • A variety of other third-party and custom software applications
  • Maximize the interoperability of all system applications within the district
  • Maintain, design, analyze, and implement current and future database infrastructure(s)
  • Act as a technical advisor to administration and outside software application developers
  • Document system components and user instructions
  • Collaborate with the Network Administrator (if necessary) on SQL Server issues
