Database Developer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (Hybrid) • Duration: 12 months • Potential contract-to-hire opportunity for candidates who do not require sponsorship now or in the future.

About the role

This role involves the design, development, and review of database changes within the organization. As a Database Engineer, the successful candidate will apply industry-accepted design and development practices to perform all database-related changes, including database design, normalization, and SQL/PL-SQL programming, using an Agile methodology.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and review database modifications.
• Apply industry best practices for database design and normalization.
• Program in SQL and PL-SQL within an Agile framework.
• Perform performance tuning, including query optimization and indexing strategies.
• Utilize tools such as AWR, ASH, and Explain Plan for database analysis.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure robust and efficient database architecture.

Requirements

• Expert-level proficiency in the latest Oracle Database version.
• Strong experience in SQL and PL-SQL programming.
• Proficiency in TOAD and similar database tools.
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
• Proven experience in Database Design and Data Modeling (ER Diagram and Normalization).
• Strong understanding of Oracle architecture, memory structure, and background processes.
• Hands-on experience in performance tuning, including query optimization and indexing strategies using tools like AWR, ASH, and Explain Plan.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the financial domain.
• Knowledge of shell scripting or Python for automating database tasks.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, GIT, and Datical.
• Exposure to MS SQL Server and MongoDB.
• Knowledge of data security, encryption, and compliance standards.
