Surgical Technologist, Surgery - Full-Time, Day

About the role

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Surgical Technician in the Surgery department. You will be primarily responsible for maintaining the sterile field, ensuring all team members adhere to aseptic technique and sterile practices. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area. Eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $5,000.

Responsibilities

• Compassionately provide personal patient care to ensure comfort and well-being of the surgical patient.
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons, passing instruments and providing sterile items efficiently.
• Assist by holding instruments as directed by the physician.
• Prepare the procedure room, checking non-sterile equipment for proper working order.
• Participate in positioning patients for procedures.
• Post-operative responsibilities include cleaning the procedure room, removing contaminated instruments, linen, and garbage, and disposing of blood and body fluids using the Biohaz process.
• Provide equipment and supplies based on patient and procedure needs.
• Adhere to infection control principles.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program.
• Certification as a CST from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year experience as a CST in an acute care hospital.
• GI Tech experience.

Schedule

• Full-Time (0.9 FTE).
• Day shift (12-hour shifts).
• On-call requirement.

Pay

The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected for the position, based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation at hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity.
