About the Role
Support peri-operative patient care across all ages by maintaining a sterile environment, passing instruments, participating in surgical counts, and collaborating with surgeons, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to facilitate quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
- Correctly pass instruments to the surgical team.
- Participate in surgical counts to prevent retained surgical items.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Follow all policies and safety standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge of instrumentation and growth and development principles.
- Collaborate with surgeons, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, and other staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
- Current certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Certification in surgical technology required; LPN licensure may apply for some employees.
- Ability to demonstrate appropriate care for patients of all ages.
