Surgical Services Staff Development & Education Program Coordinator

About the role

The Surgical Services Staff Development & Education Program Coordinator supports the standards, mission, goals, and objectives of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Surgical Services.

Responsibilities

• Develops, coordinates, and evaluates the following programs: Surgical Services orientation, staff development, and patient/family education.
• Affirms a leadership role and serves as a resource for others on current educational theory, professional development, and evidence-based practice.
• Affirms that staff educational programs promote and support professional development and those patient/family educational programs promote and support hospital and community health education activities.
• Leads and teaches others, and through positive communication skills, actively supports a collaborative environment in promoting health, wellness, and education for positive patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
• Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Minimum: Current CA RN License; Preferred: CNOR.
• Technical Requirements: Minimum: Clinical Operating Room Registered Nurse Expert; Demonstrated teaching and program development skills; Knowledge of supervisory practices, techniques, and methods for staff development; Minimum: Three (3) years of clinical/teaching/leadership experience in the operating room; Preferred: One (1) year experience as Surgical Services Educator.

Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable.

Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health’s annual management incentive program.

Physician compensation is determined based upon specialty and may include bonus potential.
