About the role
The Surgical Technician / Operating Room (OR) Tech (uncertified, certified, unlicensed, or licensed) works in a collaborative environment at St. Mary Medical Center within Surgical Services to provide safe, quality health care services and/or assistance to patients under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse or other designated health care professional. Duties are performed in accordance with level of experience, education, policies, and procedures. Must have additional training through the achievement of in-house certifications or successful completion of role-specific certification or licensing.
Responsibilities
- Participates in direct one-to-one patient observation to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Engages in therapeutic communication and assists nurses and designated health care professionals in keeping detailed records.
- Maintains clear communication between the entire care team and works with patients and families.
- May serve as a resource (lead), role model, and/or mentor.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in high school, completing a GED, or obtained a high school diploma or GED.
- Specialty license, certification, training, or experience according to assignment area in the applicable state(s) of engagement.
Certification
