About the Role

To provide surgical scheduling services in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with departmental procedures while delivering outstanding customer service to all existing and potential MACC patients.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgical appointments for the practice.
  • Obtain reports of lab work, X-ray, EKG reports from primary care doctors, cardiologists, etc., and fax to the appropriate facilities.
  • Obtain surgical authorizations in accordance with insurance company guidelines to ensure proper financial clearance.
  • Communicate with referring providers regarding scheduling and completion of surgeries.
  • Check-in and check-out patients as needed, including verifying and obtaining insurance and demographic information, collecting co-payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Answer the phone in a timely, polite, and professional manner (within three rings or less), direct calls to appropriate persons, and take accurate messages within the electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adjust to unexpected changes to ensure all responsibilities and duties are met during absences or increased patient volumes.
  • Maintain harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients, and guests.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Float to the front desk for coverage when needed.
  • Ability to float to other MACC practices when required.
  • Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in a medical office setting, including at least one (1) year of scheduling experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated excellence in providing customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with current office technology, proficient with medical computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.) preferred.
  • Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
  • Typing skills at 30 WPM preferred.

Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, no weekends, and no holidays.

Pay

Hourly hiring pay range: $22.79 – $26.74.
