About the Role

As a Surgical Application Specialist, you will achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for Amalgatome SD Ring Blades, parts, service, Mesh|EX skin meshing systems, service, and carriers. You will lead evaluations and support current customers by executing on-site training, ensuring proper documentation, and providing ongoing surgical case support to drive blade sales and aftermarket utilization.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver support for all Surgical product lines as directed by the Exsurco Sales team, manager, or business needs.
  • Conduct product training sessions (in-person, hands-on) with appropriate personnel (OR, SPD) to ensure proper assembly, disassembly, use, troubleshooting, complaint resolution, and processing.
  • Provide surgical training support to ensure proper product use.
  • Conduct in-services for multiple hospital departments, including Sterile Processing, OR clinical staff (surgeons, residents), OR business staff, clinical educators, BioMed, and purchasing. May require multi-shift, night, or weekend sessions.
  • Perform product demos for clinical staff to drive new business.
  • Cover on-site surgical cases in the OR based on the Exsurco surgical team schedule.
  • Be available for Facetime troubleshooting calls on a company-issued cell phone.
  • Provide timely feedback to Marketing, Service, Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Regulatory departments to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize the Service Department for equipment or service issues encountered in the field.
  • Maintain and submit required reports (weekly itinerary in SHIFTS, call reports, CRM updates, evaluation/business utilization updates).
  • Coordinate travel plans and account coverage with your manager.
  • Report market input, issues, feedback, and shifts to inform business decisions.
  • Maintain compliance with the Exsurco Quality Management System and Code of Business Conduct.
  • Uphold a professional image in appearance, speech, and demeanor.
  • Navigate large hospitals, approach staff for directions, and engage with hospital personnel professionally.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
  • Respond to calls and emails from the Exsurco sales team and provide feedback on account visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; surgical background with proper certification is a plus.
  • Burn or wound care background preferred.
  • Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) a plus.
  • Certification in a related medical/health field (e.g., Surgical Technician, EMT, Tissue Banking Specialist) with at least two years of direct experience in operating rooms, tissue banking, or processing (minimum requirement).
  • Documented success in developing relationships, training, or supervising technical staff and meeting goals.
  • Ability to master highly technical product lines and assist less technical individuals in understanding clinical and operational benefits.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to assume responsibility without direct supervision.
  • Skilled in training others and creating an environment that promotes learning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences (cultural, educational, and experience levels).
  • Knowledge of sterile techniques and instrument processing.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, surgical/operating room procedures, and tissue recovery (specifically skin recovery).
  • Overnight travel required (80% of time) within assigned territory and for regional/national meetings; some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work "on-call" (beyond 8-hour workdays, nights, and weekends).
  • Current valid driver’s license and reliable automobile for work transportation.
