About the role

The Supervisor, Surgery Scheduling provides clinical and administrative support for surgical scheduling, billing, and the operating-room computer system. You will coordinate daily billing processes, lead daily operations, ensure work quality and service, and supervise team members in the assigned area. The role includes advanced computer-systems support, security management, staff training, and troubleshooting. This position currently has at least one direct report, with potential for more as the service line grows.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily billing processes for assigned surgical areas.
  • Provide leadership, accountability, and supervision for team members.
  • Deliver advanced support for operating-room computer systems, including security management, staff training, and troubleshooting.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with staff, leaders, and other personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Proficiency in EPIC, Excel, and data handling (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
  • Surgery scheduling experience (strongly preferred).
  • Leadership skills, including educating and mentorship (preferred).
  • OR utilization experience (preferred).
  • Experience building professional relationships (preferred).

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility and the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads.
