About the Role
The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator ensures accurate, efficient, and timely surgery scheduling for Stillwater Medical Group surgeons across multiple specialties and locations. This role prioritizes customer service by keeping patients, providers, and key departments informed throughout the process. It also ensures pre-surgical financial and insurance requirements are completed for appropriate revenue collection, coordinating all aspects of the surgery scheduling process for successful outcomes. Additionally, the position provides administrative support for specified Specialty Operations duties.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience Required
Meets one of the following:
- Two years post-secondary education with coursework in business operations, healthcare, or customer service.
- Graduate of a technical, business, or community college as a medical receptionist/secretary, medical office assistant, or similar training program.
- Three years of experience as a medical receptionist, healthcare billing or coding representative, healthcare customer service position, or similar role.
- Two years of customer service, medical, or business office experience.
- Two years of computer experience, including knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar programs.
- Ability to learn an electronic medical record system is required.
Experience Preferred
- Two years working in a HealthPartners organization, including experience with an electronic medical record system, surgical clinic setting, or business office.
- Working knowledge of insurance, including coordination of benefits, referral requirements, prior authorization processes, and billing protocols.
Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with insurance terminology and medical coding systems (ICD-10 & CPT).
- Ability to independently solve problems and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Skilled in organizing and prioritizing work with multiple interruptions, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle routine and impromptu assignments with minimal supervision.
- High degree of initiative and ability to act as a team player.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships and partnerships with others.
Computer Proficiency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, email, calendar, and database programs.
- Ability to learn an electronic medical record system is required.
