SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIALIST.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize and submit work requests and classify priority using NAVFAC guidance.
- Initiate calls to NAVFAC trouble/service desk for urgent/emergency services and provide information on location, problem, type of repairs required, and point-of-contacts.
- Ensure facilities and equipment are professionally maintained at a level that meets mission requirements.
- Identify possible energy conservation measures and promote utilization of the Energy Conservation Savings Program and Energy Conservation Programs.
- Manage, administer, and implement the property control and accountability program to ensure government property is accounted for.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to specific provisions.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position; you will ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks essential to the mission.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include:
- Building maintenance and facilities management, including prioritizing and submitting work requests for operations, maintenance, and contract work.
- Government property management and accountability, including the use of systems like the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS).
- Ability to track the status of multiple projects and provide regular updates to management.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
- Two academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education, a master's degree, or equivalent graduate degree.
Official transcripts must reflect a major study in: public administration, business administration, industrial engineering, industrial management, or other administrative or management fields related to the position to be filled. A transcript must be submitted with your application if qualifying using education.
Additional Information
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay may be required.
- This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
