About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Services Operative based at Arran War Memorial Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Schedule
- 36 hours per week, including 1 weekend in 4
- Hours worked between 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM
- Shifts agreed in advance on a monthly basis, typically:
- 4 x 7.5-hour shifts with a 30-minute break
- 1 x 8.5-hour shift with a 30-minute break
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
Responsibilities
- Undertake a variety of housekeeping, cleaning, and meal/beverage duties within Clinical Support Services
- Work on your own initiative and as part of a team
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in a healthcare environment
- Be flexible regarding work areas within Arran War Memorial Hospital
Full training will be provided. Experience with industrial cleaning equipment, understanding of food safety standards, or prior experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous but not essential.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a safe, caring, and respectful manner
- Right to work in the UK (NHS Ayrshire & Arran may offer visa sponsorship for eligible roles, assessed on a case-by-case basis)
