About the role
Support Coordinator I serves as an entry-level coordinator at Keck Medicine of USC's Torrance location. The position focuses on providing strong customer service and performing administrative support for patients, aiming to enhance patient satisfaction and clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Clerical: Enters information accurately into computer systems, provides medical records, schedules appointments, coordinates multiple appointments, and manages patient information.
- Patient Customer Service: Greets patients courteously, acts as a single point of contact, gathers patient information, communicates with patients and caregivers, and coordinates care among various departments.
- Teamwork/Collaboration: Maintains open communication with management and other staff, keeps up-to-date with changes within the USC healthcare system, and collaborates with other hospital and physicians' staff.
- Other: Supports the Clinic Manager with quality assurance, patient flow, data collection, and projects; participates in audits and corrections; and engages in department-specific projects, audits, and quality/process improvement efforts.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Flexibility to cover sick time, vacation, or leave of absence
- Excellent phone and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient in computer, Microsoft Office, and applicable software used in the department
- Takes initiative, handles constant change, and accepts responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- One year of administrative or customer service experience in a medical office, preferably in an ambulatory care environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
