About the Role

Performs general clerical duties that may include data entry/retrieval, typing, filing, scheduling, reception desk, mail processing, payment window, and court check-in. Duties include some contact with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and processes office mail.
  • Performs routine filing and file maintenance duties as needed.
  • Scans all necessary paperwork in working and original files.
  • Receives and processes support payments and provides receipts to customers accurately, if assigned.
  • Receives and processes requests for information from authorized subsidized housing agencies.
  • Prepares forms, letters, and other key department documents.
  • May schedule support cases for conferences or court hearings; prepare conference/court lists; organize court files; perform post-hearing routine duties as instructed or assigned.
  • May check clients in for support hearings, conferences, meetings, or paternity testing appointments.
  • May docket support case information.
  • May assist a team or unit with routine clerical duties, special projects, data entry/retrieval, etc., at a lower level of responsibility than clerical casework performed by higher Support Caseworker/Specialist positions.
  • Makes routine telephone calls as assigned.
  • Orders and maintains office supplies.
  • Follows State, County, and Department security requirements, policies, and procedures; adheres to security plans, emergency procedures, and confidentiality policies; helps provide a safe and secure environment for self, co-workers, and clients; secures data and client information.
  • Works in a high-volume, often stressful office environment.
  • Exercises good judgment, courtesy, and tact when in contact with the public and clients, who may be under stress.
  • Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
  • Serves as a trainer as needed.
  • Learns and uses the Pennsylvania Automated Child Support Enforcement System (PACSES) and all related applications, including the County computer system.
  • Maintains statistics.
  • Understands Federal Performance Measures.
  • Works off-site if required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, with a computer keyboarding skill of 35 wpm.
  • Work experience in a business, legal, or court environment preferred.
