About the Role
As a Supervisory Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company to both associates and customers, highlighting our brand and image while contributing to our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will assist customers, help them recognize the need for our products and services, and lead a team of associates to ensure a positive and productive work environment. Through continuous learning, you will stay current on the products we sell and articulate our purpose in an educational, insightful, and professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Proactively engage and connect with customers by asking questions and listening to their needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card.
- Provide premier customer service and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships.
- Take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
- Organization & Sales
- Maintain store appearance and ensure a clean, organized environment.
- Cross-sell products and know the store layout.
- Make product suggestions based on customer needs, trends, and current promotions.
- Upsell products and stay updated on the latest trends and product features.
- Use a Point-of-Sale system to process transactions, including cash, discounts, gift cards, credit/debit cards, and accurate change.
- Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliation tasks.
- Inventory
- Manage merchandise, complete inventory processes, and ensure accurate ticketing and check-in.
- Participate in periodic inventories and maintain security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise.
- Provide direction on assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage inventory effectively.
- Supervisory Duties
- Provide effective leadership, direction, and training to associates.
- Set a positive example, offer timely and professional coaching and feedback.
- Assign work, train sales associates, and provide performance input to the Department Manager.
- May open/close the location.
- Dependability
- Adhere to assigned work schedule and complete work assignments accurately.
- Product Knowledge
- Maintain a moderate level of knowledge about products and merchandise.
- Provide training and documentation to sales associates on product features.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Communication Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents (e.g., safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals).
- Effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
- Proper telephone etiquette.
- Mathematical Skills
- Basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to use a calculator, calculate percentages and ratios, and make change in American currency.
- Reasoning Ability
- Ability to multi-task while remaining attentive to customers and flexible to business needs.
- Work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
- Defuse escalated exchanges and create win-win situations.
Schedule
Full-Time (35+ hours per week).
Primary Location: United States-Illinois-Great Lakes
