About the role
Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational goals and objectives. Serves as a liaison for patients, government agencies, and third-party payers for the purpose of providing an on-site contact for individual practice sites.
Responsibilities
- Completes regular performance evaluations for each staff member and conducts evaluations for new staff prior to the completion of the probationary period.
- Acts as a liaison between administration, physicians, and staff.
- Counsels employees, develops staff, and utilizes the disciplinary process as appropriate.
- Covers the daily operations of the medical practice site.
- Recruits, orients, counsels, and evaluates a team of engaged employees to assure quality patient care.
- Maintains infection control standards and OSHA standards for the medical practice, assuring staff knowledge and compliance with HIPAA and OSHA policies and procedures.
- Led quality initiatives and safety functions that support patient care and reflects the initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations.
- Collaborates with ancillary support services to provide a safe, clean, and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Solves patient complaints and proficiently uses computer applications to achieve optimum patient care efficiencies.
- Ensures accurate, timely charges, billing, and collection of patient accounts, maintaining appropriate internal controls over accounts receivable and cash receipt functions.
Requirements
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payors (preferred).
- Additional languages (preferred).
- Able to communicate professionally, both verbally and nonverbally, and utilizes effective listening and questioning techniques.
- Mature judgment in dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives.
- Able to operate general office machines such as computer, fax machine, printer, and scanner.
- Able to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks, and organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion.
- Able to manage diverse personalities.
- Able to adapt in an ever-changing healthcare environment.
- Able to follow complex instructions and procedures, with a close attention to detail.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and ability to use discretion when discussing patient-related information that is confidential in nature as needed to perform duties (preferred).
- Basic medical terminology (required).
Qualifications
- Associate (preferred).
- High School Grad or Equiv (required).
- Field Of Study in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain (preferred).
- 2+ years of related work experience (required).
- Experience coding ICD-10 and CPT billing (preferred).
- Leadership experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
- Patient care experience as CMA, LPN, EMT, etc. (preferred).
- Staff experience in a health care setting (preferred).
Skills
