About the role

National Grid is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor for our Investment Recovery Department in Liverpool, NY. This role provides recycling industry and operational leadership, overseeing daily operations and recycling equipment related to the recovery of surplus and obsolete inventory assets. The position ensures safe, effective, and efficient task completion in alignment with departmental and National Grid policies. This role combines general warehouse supervision with oversight of recycling equipment operating costs, maintenance, and inventory management. Minimal travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Asset Management and Recovery: Supervise the receiving, identification, storage, tracking, and disposition of distressed or surplus assets to ensure maximum recovery and sustainable solutions.
  • Inventory Control: Ensure accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and physical inventories, reconciling discrepancies, and implementing process improvements. Utilize SAP and Epiq software to track inventory movement.
  • Process Efficiency and Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices for the investment recovery process. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations (OSHA), and relevant environmental or recycling laws. Contribute to public and personnel safety by adhering to National Grid safety policies.
  • Team Leadership and Supervision: Plan, assign, and direct work for a team of 10 union employees. Responsibilities include training, performance appraisals, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and fostering a safe, positive, and productive work environment. Monitor performance, including issues related to sickness, discipline, and workload efficiency.
  • Logistics and Operations Supervision: Oversee incoming and outgoing shipments of assets for sale or disposal, including required documentation and coordination with transportation partners. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, warehouse, finance) to ensure seamless operations. Proactively manage vendor relationships for purchasing and timely delivery of recycling equipment parts.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Maintain and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to asset recovery operations and equipment. Interpret data to identify areas for improvement and generate reports for management on inventory status, recycling equipment productivity, and related budgets.
  • Equipment Operation: Oversee warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, ensuring staff are properly trained and safety protocols are followed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience as a warehouse supervisor or in a related inventory/asset management, supply chain, or recycling industry role.
  • Proficiency with SAP, RF scanners, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel for data analysis and reporting).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve operational challenges promptly.
  • Knowledge of project management methods with experience leading projects and/or working within groups to complete projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in labor relations and effective labor contract administration/optimization.
  • Knowledge and experience in storm restoration and emergency management.
  • Experience with tools, materials, equipment maintenance, and/or general knowledge of the gas and/or electric utility industry.

Pay

$77,000.00 - $90,000.00 USD annually
