About the Role

Provides technical and operational supervision and direction for the clinical laboratory. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety, environmental and infection control standards so that the laboratory remains in compliance with accreditation and licensing agencies. Assures adequate staffing and provides work direction to include scheduling, evaluations, and counseling. Performs the essential job functions of a Medical Technologist. Provides input for the budgeting process.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct technical and operational aspects of the clinical laboratory.
  • Maintain departmental policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and licensing agencies.
  • Manage staffing, including scheduling, evaluations, and counseling.
  • Perform essential job functions of a Medical Technologist.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or an appropriately related field, from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification or National Certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology or National Medical Laboratory Technician - American Medical Technologists or National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists or National Laboratory Tech - United States Government.
  • 3 years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in the specialty in the U.S., Canada, or a CAP/The Joint Commission accredited laboratory within the last 6 years. This experience must be acquired post baccalaureate degree and under the supervision of a pathologist (certified by the American Board of Pathology) or an appropriately board-certified medical scientist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or an appropriately related field, from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • 3 years of Hospital Laboratory supervisory experience.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $50.32 - $79.45 per hour. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
