Supervisor Imaging

About the role

Under limited supervision, serves as a member of the management team, reporting to the Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for the designated modalities. This role is responsible for the technical and behavioral performance of direct reports, workflows and utilization of all related equipment. Works in a technical role in the modality supervising and is responsible for staffing and scheduling to meet the service needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and develops modality policies and procedures with Medical Director and Managerial oversight.
• Maintains and monitors all required quality control and equipment needs.
• Ensures radiation safety policies and procedures are being followed to be in compliance with state, federal and accreditation standards and regulations.
• Ensures adequate supply and inventory needs are met.
• Leads clinical staff in the designated modalities and facilitates a productive work flow for efficient department operation.
• Resolves clinical/functional issues and escalates problems to the appropriate leadership.
• Works with all departments to facilitate patient care coordination and keeps patient experience at the forefront of decision making.
• Collaborates with departmental leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate budgetary functions, capital needs, personnel performance, staff scheduling, and educational activities.
• Provides feedback on staff performance; trains and orients imaging personnel in procedures, equipment, and information systems.
• Actively participates in coaching/mentoring staff in all aspects of job performance.
• Works with Manager and HR on performance improvement plans, documentation of deficiencies in performance or employment decisions through the HR process.
• Oversees documentation of patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
• Helps troubleshoot issues with images transmission, missing reports, and billing rejections.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience - Required: Associate degree, or Certificate, in the radiologic technology field; 3-5 years as a clinical imaging professional.

Education & Experience - Preferred: Bachelor's degree in health sciences or a related field; 3-5 years' experience in modality of supervision; 1 year leadership experience as a lead in the modality.

Certification requirements

Requirements are dependent on the specific modality supervised as follows:

• Radiology = ARRT certification and Maryland licensure
• Ultrasound = ARDMS certification
• CT - Radiographer = ARRT certification, CT Certification and Maryland licensure
• Nuclear Medicine = CNMT certification and Maryland licensure
• Certification in modality of supervision
• Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
