About the role

As the Supervisor of HSSS (Health, Safety, Security, and Sustainability) in the Marine Industry, you are responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive management system that includes hazard identification, evaluation and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous material/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and environmental regulatory compliance.

At PSA Penn Terminals, one of the best equipped, privately owned multipurpose Marine Terminals on the US East Coast, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of handling container, perishable, project, super sack, steel, pipes, forest products, and other break-bulk cargoes. Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safe, healthy, and environmentally regulated working conditions.
  • Promote safety policies and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Strengthen safety culture through management and workforce engagement.
  • Conduct internal safety audits and subcontractor audits.
  • Provide expert safety advice and support to management.
  • Enforce safe working practices and manage lost time injuries (LTIF).
  • Report all WCB claims and liaise with HR on appeals.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Control and prevent occupational illness and injury.
  • Ensure compliance with national safety, security, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments and job safety analyses.
  • Analyze accident/incident statistics and propose improvements.
  • Manage security staff and ensure deliverables are met.
  • Lead emergency response activities.
  • Maintain and evaluate safety and security inspection data.
  • Demonstrate initiative, planning, professionalism, and dependability.
  • Pursue technical skill development and share expertise.
  • Solve problems effectively and contribute to teamwork.
  • Communicate clearly in oral and written forms.
  • Promote quality management and sound judgment.
  • Support organizational policies and goals.
  • Prioritize work and plan effectively.
  • Observe safety and security procedures correctly.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • OSHA training or willingness to complete relevant classes.
  • Experience with ISO Quality Management System (preferred).
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations and best practices.
  • Health and Safety experience in the shipping industry (preferred).
  • Background in vessel operations or marine terminal work.
  • International logistics/marine terminal experience (a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Previous audit certifications (a plus).

Pay

$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
