About the Role
The Health Information Management Supervisor supports other department leaders with daily operations, coordinates and supervises co-workers and activities, and assists with process improvements. The HIM Supervisor takes a proactive approach to identifying trends and solutions to ensure continuity and consistency.
Responsibilities
- Support department leaders with daily operations.
- Coordinate and supervise co-workers and activities.

- Identify trends and solutions to ensure continuity and consistency.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Health Information Management.
- 3 years of experience in HIM/medical records.
- 2 years of experience in a leadership/management position.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in a leadership/management position, or 3 years in a Release of Information or Master Patient Index role in an acute care setting.
Skills
Technical Proficiency and Knowledge
- Thorough understanding of database and IT systems, policies, and processes.
- Extensive knowledge of health records, EHR, coding, and billing.
Professional Competencies
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, data analysis, and research skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated knowledge of coding guidelines and applicable federal/state laws and accreditation standards related to health information management.
- Attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-starting, independent, highly motivated, and organized problem-solver.
