About the role

The Supervisor, Health Information Operations oversees the daily activities and operations of the Health Information (HI) Analysts for chart processing/scanning and deficiency tracking/suspension. Works cooperatively with the Mgr, Deficiency Tracking/Susp and Mgr, Chart Processing/Scanning in the implementation of the network's strategies. Responsible for ensuring compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) regulatory requirements and HMH policies and procedures. Serves as a resource for team members and acts as the liaison for any HI vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily HI operations which includes but not limited to chart pick up, discharge desk, assembly, chart preparation, scanning, quality control document correction, archiving/retention of medical records, chart completion, deficiency tracking and physician suspension
  • Assists patients with MyChart issues, providing verification codes, password assistance, and proxy access
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate training and education is received by the HI team members
  • Prepares and conducts performance evaluations for team members with oversight by the Mgr, Deficiency Tracking/Susp and Mgr, Chart Processing/Scanning
  • Informs the Mgr, Deficiency Tracking/Susp and Mgr, Chart Processing/Scanning on team member performance and assists with identifying training opportunities
  • Provides feedback and recommendations for team member progressive disciplinary actions and recognition
  • Monitors the daily workload ensuring work queues in Epic are maintained and completed within turnaround time
  • Coordinates with other departments in resolving issues such as missing charts or portions of charts (loose documentation)
  • Supervises scheduling of team members, monitoring productivity and quality of the HI Analysts
  • Recommends changes to the HI Operations Policies and Procedures as work flows and duties change
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory position in the Health Information Department
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or health related field
  • Registered Health Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Administrator (RHIA) credentialed applicants are strongly preferred

Pay

Minimum rate of $73,153.60 Annually
