About the role

This position is within FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position is located at the FirstEnergy Headquarters in Akron, Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Supervising operations and maintenance requirements of the assigned facilities in support of consistent operations and practices across all FirstEnergy buildings.
- Directing performance of work assignments for the locations assigned including breakdown maintenance, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, room set-ups, service requests, jurisdictional inspections, and others as needed.
- Ensuring preventative maintenance and testing occurs as scheduled for facility equipment and systems.
- Owner of and responsible for all financial aspects of facilities operations, including budgeting, performance monitoring, accrual management, forecasting, cost control, compliance, and analyzing and correcting variances.
- Utilizing Facilities’ work management systems to ensure compliance with procedures, practices, standards to complete projects efficiently and timely, to assure value added services with high customer satisfaction in support of FirstEnergy’s business units.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations - building and life safety codes, OSHA, EPA, NEC, NFPA, etc. This includes Facility Disaster Recovery Plans and Emergency Evacuation procedures as well as supporting required fire drills.
- Actively promoting FirstEnergy’s Leading with Safety, demonstrating a commitment to work in accordance with the Accident Prevention Handbook, safe work practices, construction standards, and rules.
- Implementing and administering safety programs and providing documentation of safety incidents and activities, including safety recognition and feedback to team members.
- Supervising, training, and developing personnel both represented and non-represented employees.
- Coinciding and monitoring work performed by outside contractors.
- Providing on-site direction of minor repair projects.
- Assuring that work is performed in accordance with contracts.
- Interfacing with other department and company personnel, customers, public, etc., in response to work requests and projects, as position requires.
- Reviewing and reporting to project staff on building condition assessments, project work and specific goals on a regular basis, including assisting with ECAP inspections.
- Making facilities-related recommendations for the O&M and capital budgets.
- Monitoring facility conditions at assigned buildings to provide feedback on performance specifications regarding effective facility operations.
- Managing assigned facilities to perform efficiently and effectively to attain cost and building performance targets.
- Manage the input and completion, as appropriate, of projects into OPPM for area of responsibility.
- Actively overseeing the initiation of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and invoice approval and processing.
- Assisting with preparation of bid specifications, lead bid meetings and perform technical evaluations for contracted services.
- Operating within allocated budget.
- Providing mid-month budget variance and month-end budget projection.
- Initiate CIP and RAAD access for contactors and staff.
- Continually updating access as required to maintain compliance requirements.
- Managing call out / On duty process for area(s) of responsibility.
- Successfully executing other projects and responsibilities, as required.
- Supporting FEU storm restoration activities as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a related field, supplemented with a minimum of six (6) years related experience or an associate degree in a technical maintenance field with a minimum of eight (8) years related experience preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience in a related field.
- Related field or experience includes: Prior maintenance leadership experience, experience in facility operations or operational experience within the electric utility industry. At least two years supervisory experience preferred.
- Effective oral/written communications and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Aptitude in supervising employees in accordance with labor agreements.
- Excellent customer relations skills to effectively partner and communicate with customers at all levels of the organization.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the FirstEnergy territory.
- Must be willing to work extra and/or irregular hours as required including emergency call outs and to direct staff or contractors in the event of a loss of a critical building system.
