About the role
Manages the day-to-day activities of cash management and accounts receivable staff.
Responsibilities
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned staff.
- Oversees the accurate and timely processing of the district’s receipts and bank reconciliation.
- Prepares a variety of month-end and fiscal year-end reports as required.
- Responds to data and information requests; prepares analyses and reports.
- Works cooperatively and maintains communication with district staff, State of Ohio, City of Columbus, district banking relationships, and others to discuss issues, resolve problems, and exchange information.
- Provides guidance to district staff on a variety of accounting issues.
- Performs special projects as required.
- Maintains current knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting principles and practices as well as governmental regulations impacting payroll.
- Recommends changes to procedures and processes as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Two or more years of accounting experience.
Skills
- Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted governmental accounting principles and practices.
- Interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of district staff, State of Ohio, City of Columbus, district banking relationships, and others.
- Computer and written skills: Proficiency in maintaining various departmental records, documents, and reports.
- Supervisory skills: Ability to provide guidance, train, and review the work of assigned staff.
- Analytical ability: Mathematical aptitude to perform complex accounting tasks and resolve discrepancies.
