About the role
Hawthorn Children's Psychiatric Hospital provides specialized care for children and adolescents diagnosed with mental illness. We are seeking a Supervising Support Care Assistant who is positive, energetic, and interested in helping children with mental illness maximize their potential.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living
- Ambulate and transfer individuals as needed
- Prepare, administer, and chart medication under the direction of a professional nurse
- Transport individuals to appointments and activities in state vehicles
- Assist with staff scheduling
- Report complaints and incidents to the immediate supervisor
- Perform CPR and implement crisis intervention techniques
Requirements
- One or more years of work experience or self-employment
- Possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency
- Ability to lift 45 lbs vertically from floor to shoulder height
- Ability to run, walk, or jog a distance of 400 yards
- Ability to pull 45 lbs at least 20 feet
- Ability to kneel on the floor to perform CPR
- Strong leadership and team-building abilities
Benefits
- Additional $2.00 per hour for evening/night shifts
Schedule
This is a second-level direct care position which may function as a lead worker.
Pay
The position offers additional compensation for evening and night shifts.
