Job Location

This position will be located at Hawthorn Children's Psychiatric Hospital, 1901 Pennsylvania Ave., St. Louis, MO 63133. Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital provides specialized care for children and adolescents diagnosed with mental illness.

About the Role

We are looking for a positive and energetic Support Care Assistant who has an interest in helping children with mental illness maximize their potential. Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital uses the Sanctuary Model to guide our interactions with our teammates and the care we provide to our consumers in order to promote healing, safety, and nonviolence.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes effective interpersonal relationships with residents, co-workers and other members of the health care team
  • Maintains a therapeutic environment
  • Provides basic nursing care
  • Aids individuals with daily living and hygiene tasks
  • Observes, reports and records changes in the physical condition, behavior response and emotional status of individuals
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled
  • No experience necessary, paid training is provided

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Pass a background screening
  • Able to lift 45lbs vertically from floor to shoulder height
  • Can run, walk or jog a distance of 400 yards
  • Can pull 45lbs at least 20 feet
  • Kneel on floor to perform CPR
  • Implement crisis intervention techniques and emergency treatment procedures
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and team building abilities

Qualifications

  • One or more years of work experience or self-employment
  • Possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency

Pay

An additional $2.00 per hour is added for evening and night shift employees. An additional 5% pay differential is added if holding active CNA Licensure through DHSS.
