About the role

Cemex US is a leader in the building materials industry, known for innovation, quality, and operational excellence. The Superintendent Ready Mix Plant manages an assigned territory of the ready-mix organization, overseeing various aspects of plant operations and personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes safety within assigned territory and serves as an example using visible felt leadership
  • Reviews and closes out all Safety Improvement Cards for assigned plant(s)
  • Investigates and acts on root cause analysis of safety related incidents
  • Reviews and acts on DriveCam events
  • Oversees the cleanliness of the fleet, plant, restrooms, and offices
  • Manages the profit and lost statement for assigned plant(s)
  • Hires and retains staff to maintain required headcount
  • Schedules and coordinates activities of workers engaged in transportation and production of concrete
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in daily preventative and minor repair maintenance of the plant
  • Supervises the operation of concrete batching to ensure excellent quality that meets or exceeds designed specifications
  • Manages the quality and quantity of raw materials within assigned plant(s) and ensures proper handling, storage and testing
  • Coordinates with Area Manager and Environmental Department to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements
  • Coordinates with Area Manager and Maintenance Department in the repairs and preventative maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Interacts with sales team and customer service to coordinate efficient delivery of product and make recommendations
  • Works with both the Sales and Quality Control team to identify customer service needs, to jointly coordinate, resolve and improve product and quality of service
  • Responsible for ongoing improvement of the assigned plant(s) and surrounding area(s)

Qualifications

  • College degree, preferably in an engineering discipline, or 5 (or more) years of relevant working experience preferred
  • 5 (or more) years experience performing varied responsibilities related to plant production, safety, and maintenance; equipment maintenance; experience in detecting and resolving production problems
  • 3 (or more) years in a supervisory role
  • ACI Certification
  • NRMCA Plant Manager Course

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations
  • Budget and financial/P & I knowledge desired
  • Strong Basic Computer Skills including, but not limited to, SAP, MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Command, KRONOS
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills
  • Working knowledge of Performance Based Compensation (PBC)

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work all hours including nights and weekends
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements

  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors
