Superintendent Maintenance
Primary location is onsite in Henderson, NV. This role also provides oversight of the Henderson, CO facility. Travel required to Henderson, CO.
About the Role
This position leads a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls staff to ensure the safe and efficient production of quality tile. The role requires compliance with all safety policies and procedures, effective resolution of complex manufacturing problems, and the introduction of innovative solutions. Utilize Continuous Improvement principles to streamline and improve manufacturing processes. Execute under the company principles: Excellence, Integrity, Collaboration, and Endurance to implement capital projects supporting strategic company goals.
Responsibilities
- Comply with Westlake Safety Policies and Procedures
- Ensure regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
- Oversee and direct all maintenance-related functions to ensure plant operations maintain safety compliance
- Manage safety incidents to ensure protocol is followed and maintained
- Utilize problem-solving techniques to resolve complex manufacturing problems
- Work with cross-functional teams to correct manufacturing issues
- Ensure plant safety compliance, including air pollution, health department regulations, and OSHA requirements
- Communicate and enforce company policies to employees
- Inspect, monitor, and control the quality of workmanship and completed tasks to meet company standards
- Implement and maintain the plant preventive maintenance program
- Maintain monthly parts, supply budget, and labor costs
- Be fully proficient with all machinery
- Utilize manufacturing Lean principles to minimize operating costs by efficiently maintaining spare part levels
- Oversee the usage and availability of PPE to ensure the best quality at the best cost
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of all quality assurance procedures and requirements
- Implement changes in working conditions to improve effectiveness and efficiency
- Ensure maintenance department housekeeping for a safe work environment
- Drive Continuous Improvement by executing Gemba Walks and holding 5S events
- Read and assist with writing mechanical drawings
- Lead projects
- Administer discipline and attendance policies per Westlake Policies
- Lead daily meetings
- Assist and develop maintenance staffing as needed and directed
- Actively participate and execute as needed in weekly staff meetings
- Communicate with all aspects of operations, from CEO to plant personnel
- Maintain contractor compliance
- Sustain plant facilities
- Maintain Westlake's Engineering standards in accordance with the latest industry and legal requirements for plant operations and capital projects
- Develop innovative solutions to drive energy costs down
- Maintain a fleet of mobile equipment including Electric Pallet Jacks, Sit-down forklifts, Sweeper, and Front End Loader
- Issue work permits for nonstandard work
- Travel 25% of the time
- Perform all other assigned duties by the Plant Manager
Requirements
- At least 8+ years of maintenance experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Mechanic/Electrician experience
- Manufacturing experience desired
- Precast concrete industry experience desired
- Automated material handling system experience desired

Physical Requirements
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable

- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Move or traverse about the facilities
- Work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hardhat protection)
Pay
$125,000 - $140,000 per year. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The pay range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, and skillset.
