Superintendent, Maintenance

About the role

The Maintenance Superintendent position at Domtar Plymouth Mill is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the maintenance teams to meet business requirements for the efficient production of Pulp & Paper. The role involves leading the maintenance department in a safe and efficient manner, setting strategic direction, and fostering a proactive culture.

Responsibilities

• Achieve and maintain a culture of safety excellence through proactive support and leading by example.
• Manage performance of all direct and indirect reports to improve area reliability.
• Lead and integrate reliability-centered maintenance practices and predictive maintenance tools.
• Plan and execute outages and down days, ensuring efficient and effective management of unplanned events.
• Proactively identify potential problem areas and take actions to increase reliability and reduce costs.
• Ensure adherence to predictive and preventative maintenance schedules and drive year-over-year cost improvement.
• Set performance expectations and provide feedback for employee development.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with union leadership to ensure sustainable business operations and results.
• Lead on-call rotations and occasional extended work hours during upset conditions.

Requirements

• Four (4) years undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university in a Technical or Engineering major preferred.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting or environment with a strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
• Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance supervisory experience in a large heavy manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and SAP Enterprise system.
• Reliability centered maintenance training.
• Pulp and paper experience.

• Experience with vibration analysis, thermography, lube analysis, ultrasonic analysis, and failure analysis techniques.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products and SAP Enterprise system.
• Experience with Pulp and paper industry.
