Superintendent I & II

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent to provide coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a specific discipline. This role focuses on developing customer relationships through excellent service and is available at both Level 1 and Level 2, depending on experience and qualifications.

About the role

As a key leader, you will ensure materials, equipment, and inspections align with the project schedule while reviewing construction documents for completeness and constructability. You will manage the project schedule, site logistics, and collaborate with project partners to drive success.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement strategies to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
• Review construction documents for completeness and constructability; understand contract documents and coordinate plans with design engineers.
• Develop and manage the project schedule and site logistics plan; utilize tools and equipment effectively.
• Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, and site meetings.
• Supervise project partners, including interviewing, hiring, transferring, or dismissing team members as needed.
• Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, and handle team member training and career development discussions.
• Build effective relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Lead by example, offer coaching and feedback, and manage performance.
• Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions and seek process improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, OR 10 years of trade experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to manage development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.
• Effective communication, active listening, and openness to diverse input and feedback.

Requirements by Level

• Superintendent I: Minimum 5 years of construction management or related experience. Base pay range: $111,400 - $167,100.
• Superintendent II: Minimum 8 years of construction management or related experience. Base pay range: $130,100 - $195,200 (higher ranges apply for Denver, CO; Chicago, IL: +5%; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR: +10%; Washington, D.C.: +12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. This role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
