Superintendent I & II

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent to provide coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities. This role focuses on developing customer relationships through excellent service and is available at both Superintendent I and II levels, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement strategies to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
• Review construction documents for completeness and constructability; understand contract documents and coordinate plans with design engineers.
• Develop and manage the project schedule and site logistics plan; utilize tools and equipment; collaborate with project partner superintendents.
• Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, and site meetings; supervise project partners; interview, hire, transfer, or dismiss team members.
• Ensure proper task coding; lead and track work progress; handle team member training; conduct career development discussions.
• Build effective relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Lead by example; offer coaching and feedback; manage performance.
• Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions; seek process improvements.

Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, OR 10 years of trade experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to fulfill responsibilities from development to closeout for multiple, complex projects.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies.
• Effective communication and active listening skills; openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Superintendent I

Minimum Qualifications: 5 years of construction management or related experience.

Base Pay Range: $111,400 - $167,100.

Superintendent II

Minimum Qualifications: 8 years of construction management or related experience.

Base Pay Range: $130,100 - $195,200 (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
