Job Details

Harbor is seeking Summer Youth Job Coaches for its Summer Youth program in various locations including Defiance, Wauseon, Swanton, Archbold, Bryan, Napoleon, Paulding, Van Wert, Findlay, Ottawa, and North Baltimore. The positions provide vocational rehabilitation and job coaching services to Harbor-funded and referred clients.

About the role

This is a part-time position during the summer only. Essential duties include documentation, evaluation, ongoing interventions, collaboration, and special work conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the quality and completeness of the electronic record.
  • Absolutely accurate and timely documentation, including daily and weekly progress notes, monthly participant evaluations, detailed job-task analysis, incident report forms, and other necessary forms.
  • Types documentation in the appropriate format.
  • Analyzes jobs and work environments, breaking them down into trainable steps.
  • Maintains communication with funding/referral sources weekly to provide updates on youth's progress.
  • Affirms client readiness for employment and formulates appropriate interventions to help clients achieve their employment goals.
  • Aids clients in identifying and communicating their interests, skills, and aptitudes to explore possible vocational choices.
  • Ensures compliance with minor labor laws regarding breaks, work schedules, work activities, equipment/tool use, and safety procedures when working with minors.
  • Aids clients in obtaining and maintaining employment by developing skills and providing support.
  • Performs home visits/outreach to engage clients in vocational services and consults with supervisors about appropriate referrals for clients to vocational services and community programs.
  • Provides support, education, and consultation to clients, families, and significant others.
  • Aids clients in learning job skills as needed, individually or in groups.
  • Performs community outreach for client engagement and necessary support services.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings.
  • Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrates continued growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree with teaching/training or related experience preferred.
  • Proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must adhere to minor labor laws regarding break requirements, work schedule, work activities, equipment/tool use, and safety procedures when working with minors.
  • Must be able to perform job coaching at worksites and develop employment opportunities for clients.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, families, and significant others.
  • Must be able to perform home visits/outreach to engage clients in vocational services.
  • Must be able to attend required meetings and trainings.
  • Must be able to keep up with trends and developments related to essential job competencies and demonstrate continued growth.

Skills

  • Computer proficiency, particularly Microsoft Word.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of minor labor laws and safety procedures.
