About the role

The City College for Municipal Employment (CCME) is a strategic community and workforce initiative that connects Philadelphia residents to education and training pathways leading to employment and continued educational opportunities. Reporting to the Director, CCME, the Success Coach serves as the primary point of contact for an assigned caseload of CCME students following their initial onboarding and matriculation into a CCME program or pathway. This Success Coach will primarily support students participating in CCME’s non-traditional pathways, including high school students. The Success Coach provides proactive, individualized coaching and case management designed to help students remain engaged, overcome barriers, and make timely progress toward completion of their CCME pathway and achievement of their educational and career goals.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned caseload of CCME students following onboarding and matriculation, providing proactive, individualized coaching, case management, and support through completion of their CCME program or pathway.
  • In collaboration with each assigned student, develop and regularly update an individualized success plan that identifies the student’s educational and career goals, anticipated pathway to completion, key milestones, potential barriers, and strategies and supports needed to achieve those goals.
  • Proactively monitor, track, and document the academic progress, course enrollment, engagement, and program participation of assigned students; use available student data and information to identify students who may be off track and initiate timely outreach and intervention.
  • Identify academic, financial, personal, basic-needs, and other on- or off-campus barriers that are impeding or could impede students’ progress toward their educational and career goals; connect students to appropriate College and community resources and follow up to support resolution of identified barriers.
  • Assist assigned students with registration for required courses and coordinate with appropriate College departments to help identify and resolve enrollment or registration issues that could impede students’ continued progress toward program completion.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate monthly educational, career, personal, and professional development workshops for CCME students designed to strengthen student success, career readiness, and progress toward educational and employment goals.
  • Actively support CCME High School students through ongoing engagement in classroom instruction, fostering meaningful relationships that encourage academic success, career exploration, and program participation.
  • Participate in CCME and College committees, teams, and other initiatives focused on identifying and implementing strategies to strengthen student engagement, retention, and program completion.
  • Assist Success Navigators and other CCME staff, as needed, with the planning and implementation of CCME intake, onboarding, orientation, bridge, completion, and employment or continued-education transition programs and events.
  • Monitor, track, and document assigned students’ completion of requirements necessary to maintain eligibility for CCME program participation, supports, and benefits, including required coaching meetings, workshop participation, course enrollment, and other applicable program requirements; proactively follow up with students who are at risk of falling out of compliance.
  • Provide transitional support to students that “stop out” of the CCME, including identification of alternative employment options and referral services.
  • Work with other CCME staff to provide transitional support to graduates in need of work-based experiences.
  • Collaborate with CCME staff and relevant College departments to develop and implement programming and policies leading to student participation, completion and workforce transition outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, and core values of the College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
