Position Summary
The Honors College is seeking dedicated and motivated Honors College students who have been awarded federal work-study for the position of Honors College Assistant. This role offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the vibrant Honors College community by providing essential support in various areas.
Key Responsibilities
Honors College Spaces Manager
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of Honors College spaces to ensure cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance.
- Maintain supplies and inventory, notifying staff when items need to be restocked.
- Organize storage areas, closets, and Honors College materials.
- Serve as the first point of contact for student concerns regarding Honors College facilities.
- Complete weekly space reports outlining completed tasks and areas requiring attention.
Honors College Social Media Intern
- Create and maintain a consistent posting schedule across Honors College social media platforms.
- Capture photos and videos at Honors College events.
- Write captions, stories, and promotional content aligned with Honors College branding.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments or messages as directed by staff.
- Collaborate with student leaders and staff to promote upcoming events and initiatives.
- Track social media analytics and provide monthly engagement reports.
Honors College Digital Arts & Marketing Assistant
- Design flyers, digital advertisements, social media graphics, presentations, and promotional materials for Honors College events and initiatives.
- Ensure all materials follow established Honors College branding guidelines.
- Collaborate with staff and student leaders to create marketing campaigns for programs and events.
- Aid in developing visual content for newsletters, websites, and recruitment materials.
- Update existing marketing materials as needed.
- Maintain organized digital files and design templates.
Honors College Event Operations Assistant
- Assist with event setup, registration, hospitality, and breakdown.
- Welcome guests and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors during events.
- Prepare materials and supplies for Honors College programs.
- Absorb attendance tracking and event logistics.
- Help distribute promotional materials and event information.
- Support admissions events, open houses, orientation programs, and Honors College recruitment initiatives.
- Serve as an ambassador for the Honors College by providing information and answering questions about Honors programs and opportunities.
Honors College Front Desk & Administrative Assistant
- Staff the Honors College front desk during assigned work hours.
- Greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors entering Honors College spaces.
- Monitor visitor traffic and determine the purpose of each visit (use of Honors spaces, appointments, events, meetings, etc.).
- Verify scheduled appointments with Honors College staff and administrators when applicable.
- Notify Honors College staff when students or guests arrive for scheduled meetings.
- Absorb basic questions regarding Honors College policies, events, requirements, and resources, referring more complex inquiries to appropriate staff members.
- Maintain visitor sign-in procedures and attendance records as directed.
- Absorb filing, document organization, data entry, and record maintenance.
- Maintain organization of the front desk area and administrative workspaces.
- Monitor office supply inventory and notify staff when supplies need replenishing.
- Absorb distributing Honors College materials, promotional items, and event information.
- Support Honors College staff with administrative projects and special assignments.
- Provide exceptional customer service and contribute to a welcoming Honors College environment.
Education Requirements
LIU student enrolled in an active degree program
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation is a plus.
Enthusiasm for engaging with fellow Honors students and contributing to a dynamic academic community.
Reliable and punctual, with a positive and proactive attitude.
