ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtains information orally or in written form from designated school personnel regarding students' school records as it relates to behavior and interventions.
- Maintains a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of state law, Board policy and administrative regulations.
- Works closely with guidance counselors and administrators in the identification and counseling of students.
- Serves as a channel of communication for relaying the concerns, thoughts and attitudes of parents and the general public to the school.
- Presents a positive image of the school to parents and conveys to them the school's genuine concern with education, growth and development of each child.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- College degree preferred.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Experience working with children will be strongly considered in lieu of a college degree.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly required to sit, and talk or hear.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
- When doing heavier lifting, the employee should do so with assistance.
- Close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The noise level in the work environment is typical of classrooms having school children and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.
- This employee will work throughout the school building, on school grounds and occasionally off campus.
- The aide is responsible for the safety and well being of students in his/her charge.
